Heading to Lake George on vacation? Check out our roundup of the very best pet-friendly hotels in the area to help you plan your trip with ease.
It can be a real pain to leave your pet at home (or at a friend’s house or kennel) during a vacation.
Vacations should include everyone you want to bring with you, which means your furry friends, too!
Luckily, the pet-friendly accommodation offerings in Lake George, NY, are here to help you make a pet-filled holiday possible. We’ll be talking about six of our picks, but there are many more in the area.
Let’s get into it!
Amber Lantern Lake George Motel & Cottages
Amber Lantern is a lovely forested getaway option for those looking for a cozy night or two in their own cottage.
Located only a few hundred meters from the shore of Orcutt Bay, the Duplex Cottage is surrounded by forest.
Unlike other motels or hotels, the fact that the cottage is self-contained means you’ll have much more freedom and privacy — no neighbors through the walls, floors, or ceilings!
However, it’s not just the one cottage available — there are multiple on the site, so you’re able to bring a few friends along if you want to.
Overall, the hotel combines the nice aspects of self-contained living in its cottage units with the amenities of a larger, communal hotel, such as an outdoor pool and barbeque.
The hotel also offers TVs in your cottage, free Wi-Fi, and a private kitchen with a stovetop, fridge, and microwave.
The cottages are a bit out of town at around four miles from the Lake George center, so you’ll need to make sure you’ve got a way of getting there. Lake George has little public transport so a car (or taxi) is a must.
The cottages are pet-friendly, however, you will need to enquire before you head in, and there are a few restrictions.
Amber Lantern only accepts small dogs, and judging from some of the questions asked, they may also disallow some breeds.
The owner charges a $15.00 fee for pets in the single cottages, but doesn’t make it clear whether this fee changes for duplex cottages.
As you need to let them know that pets will be coming with you anyway, this would be a good thing to check upon booking.
Other than the pet charge, a night at the cottages will cost you around $140.

Roaring Brook Ranch Resort
Roaring Brook provides the perfect option for those who want to experience a ranch stay without the run-down nature that many of these buildings have.
No mice in the haystacks here — the ranch was renovated in 2020, so it’s up to code and a great place for you and your family to stay.
The resort itself contains a variety of things for you to do. With an indoor pool, tennis courts, basketball and more, you almost won’t need to step foot off the property!
They also run a movie night each Saturday, and there’s a bonfire each night in fine weather, so you can enjoy the experience of toasting s’mores at a ranch.
With a variety of food services, the resort is an all-inclusive package. You can buy breakfast and dinner from the on-site café and restaurant, and, weather-dependent, a kebab and grilled food offering.
The ranch is also quite close to the town and surrounding attractions, with the Lake George town center under a mile away. Plus, Six Flags is only a short drive from Roaring Brook if you’re visiting in the summer.
Pets at Roaring Brook incur an extra charge of $25 per night for each pet. You can bring dogs and cats to the resort, which is great news for pet lovers.
Aside from the pet fees, a night at Roaring Brook will set you back between $68–$220, depending on the time of year you book.

The Queensbury Hotel
If you’re in love with the idea of hanging out near Lake George’s stunning scenery, but less in love with being too far out of town, the Queensbury Hotel is a great choice for you.
Located in the heart of Glens Falls, you get all the amenities you’re used to in city living — nearby food stores, easy access to amenities, and so on — but you’re also close to the various parks in the city has to offer.
And, if you fancy a day trip up to Lake George, it’s around 10 miles a way — an hour’s drive or less!
The hotel is very well-established in the area (it opened in 1926), so you can be sure that the venue knows what it’s doing.
With an indoor heated pool, hotel gym, free Wi-Fi and parking, and weekly live music and entertainment, you’ll find everything you need to keep you entertained and occupied here!
The hotel also has ADA-compliant guest rooms for those with accessibility needs.
Pets at Queensbury will add $50 per pet, per room to your accommodation cost, for a maximum of two pets.
Although that’s a little on the expensive side, at least your pets remain welcome — and they don’t mention a size or weight limit!
A room at Queensbury will set you back between $100–$250 per night, depending on what day you book (Fridays and weekends tend to be more expensive).

Trout House Village Resort
The Trout House Village Resort is perfect for those who want to wake up each morning greeted by a lake view. With cabins right by the shoreline, you won’t find a better view to wake up to.
The lakeside location also means that there are a wide range of activities to get involved with while you’re there. Always wanted to try kayaking? You can rent one from Trout House!
Swimming, fishing, ping pong, and croquet are all on offer, too. Perfect for those of you who love being outdoors!
Around the lodge, the town of Hague provides a few interests including a local antique store.
And if you’re a keen golfer, why not play a round or two at Ticonderoga Country Club? The nearby 18-hole course features lush greens and fairways and two restaurants in the clubhouse.
It’s worth bearing in mind, however, that in terms of pet accommodation, Trout House isn’t the most lenient with their pet policy.
Pets are only allowed in the off-season — between September to June — and you’ll need to call ahead to make sure that your pets can come to stay. Pet stays will set you back $25 per day for each pet you bring, plus 7% tax.
While heading over in the winter might not seem particularly attractive, the off-season has other benefits such as fewer guests – which can offer you a much more intimate stay.
A night at Trout House costs between $130–$400, depending on your choice of room and the season you visit.

Luzerne Court Motel
Lastly, Luzerne Court — who take great pride in their pet-friendly status — is a great choice for all the family (including your furry friends!).
A short nine-mile drive from Lake George, the Luzerne Court motel sits closer to nearby Lake Luzerne.
There’s free parking onsite, and each room is air-conditioned, kitted out with Wi-Fi, a fridge, a microwave, and a coffee machine – plus the obligatory hotel TV!
If you’re feeling like leaving the hotel for a bit but not in the mood to make the drive up to Lake George, you can always take a trip into Luzerne town.
Watching the seaplanes take off from Lake Luzerne will make the airheads in your holiday group happy, while the rest can enjoy the lake views from one of the nearby restaurants.
The motel itself also runs nightly bonfires, and you can grab some extra firewood to stoke them on location. Plus, there’s a communal pool to relax in!
If you bring your doggo along, that’ll cost you $35 USD per night with no weight or breed limitations. However, you can’t leave them alone in your room; they’re not allowed on the front lawns or gardens.
A night at the Luzerne without pets will cost you between $90–$150, making it one of the cheaper options we’ve looked at so far.
