Let’s get started!
The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar
Location: 3675 Minnehaha Ave South, Minneapolis, MN 55406
Phone: 612-729-3663
What will first strike you about The Howe is their fabulous dog mural, featuring 10+ pups of all shapes and sizes. Fitting, since they offer a year-round dog menu and dog dining patio!
Looking at the menu for dogs, you’ll be seriously impressed. In addition to water, they also serve their signature “Tail Chaser Dog Brew” — a beef-broth “beer” in a standard can.
If your doggo’s a big fan, you can even get a four-pack, or take it home for a special treat!
And as for treats: your dog sure is in for one!
The Howe has an incredibly diverse doggy menu, including treats, entrees, and sweet treats. They can even enjoy a three-course meal, if you so choose!
Expect frozen smoked beef marrow bones or pig’s ears on the snack menu, as well as Nala’s Turkey “Muttloaf”, a “Woof Woof Bowl” (brown rice with power greens, sunny-side-up egg, and coconut “Woof Woof Sauce” — feel free to add extra protein in the form of chicken or beef), K-9 Chicken, NE Pup Burger, and Salmon Cakes on the entree menu.
And if your doggo still hasn’t had quite enough after all that, give them a treat with a Boxer Bite (pup-safe cookies) or their homemade “Pupcream” — banana, peanut butter, and coconut oil, topped with whipped cream and a Pup Cookie.
Your doggo will be absolutely spoiled for choice!
Enjoy your meal with your doggo out on the special “pawtio®”, which is covered and heated in winter.
Just be sure to take note of The Howe’s 10 patio rules, too, some of which include:
- Dogs (only one per person) must be on leashes and with their owner at all times, and not on your lap
- They eat out of their own dish on the floor, not off your plate
- Ensure they aren’t being aggressive
- Let the staff know if any accidents occur.
They’ll even provide you with yoga mats for your doggo to lie on — just ask the friendly staff!
Sea Salt Eatery
Location: 4825 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55417
Phone: 612-721-8990
Sea Salt Eatery is a seasonal restaurant, meaning it’s only open when the seafood is best (from April to October). Be sure to check their website for specific dates.
Due to its seasonality and fantastic menu, you’ll find Sea Salt’s in high demand.
Popular with both locals and visitors, standout dishes include raw oysters in the half shell (only available from the start of Fall), Clam Fries, Peel & Eat Shrimp, a range of seafood tacos, baskets and burgers, plenty of salads and vegetarian options, and an enormous seafood platter with beer or wine.
Be sure to check out the daily specials, updated each morning. Expect special or unusual fish, a range of flavorful soups, or cold, refreshing sides!
Dogs are — of course — welcome, but only on the allocated dog patio.
Aster Café
Location: 125 SE Main St, Minneapolis, MN 55414
Phone: 612-379-3138
Aster Café has a warm, vintage Spanish feel, with live music performances and a standout menu. Best of all, it’s dog friendly!
In the warmer months, your pup can hang out on the patio in the sun. The staff will provide a water bowl, and (with your permission) other patrons will provide many glorious pats!
There are (sadly) no doggy treats at Aster, so be sure to bring a little something along for your doggo to nibble on, while you enjoy your beverages and food.
So, what’s on the menu?
Happy Hour (Tuesday–Thursday, 4–6pm) will present you with a range of creative drinks, like the Cucumber Cutie and the Mulled Sangria.
As for food, you’ll find a wide selection of salads, sandwiches, small plates, flatbreads, entrees, soups, desserts, and sides.
Whether you choose to dine for brunch, lunch, or dinner, Aster will have you covered!
Three of our favorite dishes on menu are the spicy Street Noodles, Hawaiian Sandwich with 18-hour smoked pulled pork, and Truffle and Prosciutto Flatbread with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes.
Absolute decadence!
A past visitor was a big fan of the food and view, saying,
“Cute little area down there where you can watch the sunset while you eat.”
Psycho Suzi’s
Location: 1900 Marshall St. NE Minneapolis, MN 55418
Phone: 612-788-9069
Dogs are welcome all day, every day at Psycho Suzi’s! With a gorgeous dog-friendly patio out in the sun overlooking the water, you and your best pal are bound to have a good time together.
Be prepared, however – this restaurant is not your typical Midwestern eatery! Psycho Suzi’s lives up to its name with their “tiki gone mad” theme at its waterfront bar and pizza joint. Here, not only are the furnishings leopard-clad – but so are the staff…!
The drink selection includes beverages with inventive names such as Crummy Rummy, Paralyzed Politician, Miserable Bastard — you get the idea! If you love the vibe, you can even purchase a ceramic tiki mug to take home as a souvenir!
On the menu, you’ll find familiar-but-wacky dishes including a cheese curd starter, salads, burgers with tater tots, and hand-tossed pizzas. Pickle Roll-ups and Hot Honey Pizza Pie, anybody?
You and your dog will have a great time at Psycho Suzi’s. You won’t find anything else like it in Minnesota! Just be sure to visit in warm weather.
Barbette
Location: 1600 W Lake St, Mpls, MN 55408
Phone: 612-827-5710
This French, women-owned restaurant is a real treat! You’ll find two dining options on-site: the main restaurant, and Trapeze – their bookable event room for intimate gatherings.
Barbette has also been hosting parties for Bastille Day for 16 years! The French national celebration involves frites, drinks, and live music and entertainment, with a portion of profits given to charity.
If you come down, expect live DJs, the Infiammati Fire Circus, trapeze artists, a local artists’ market, and plenty more.
Of course, with a great selection of local beverage partners (including New Belgium Brewing, Pendleton, and Boodles Gin), you’re bound to have a blast.
Vive la France!
And while, of course, the restaurant is very special on event days, even a regular old Tuesday is fantastic!
If you’re craving classic French food you’ll find it here. Think raw oysters, Braised Mushroom & Goat Cheese Omelet, Croque Madame, and Vanilla Crème Brûlée, all for your dining pleasure.
And as for doggos, well-behaved dogs are welcome at Barbette. Just bear in mind that you’ll be restricted to dining outside, so be sure to call ahead to reserve a spot for you and your pup!
Complimentary doggy amenities include a water bowl and freshly made doggy biscuits.
So, for a taste of France, make sure you head to Barbette — and bring your dog!
Hai Hai
Location: 2121 University Ave NE Minneapolis, MN 55418
Phone: 612-223-8640
Before you’ve even stepped in the door at Hai Hai you’ll be greeted energetically!
The name actually translates to “two two”, the building’s old number. Now, you’ll find this spot home to a Southeast Asian street food restaurant & bar, run by acclaimed chef Christina Nguyen.
The menu will impress you, even from these few examples: Spring Rolls, Beef Laab Lettuce Wraps, Hanoi Sticky Rice, Bread Pudding, Pineapple Sweet cocktail, and the Hai Thai slushy cocktail.
Dogs are welcome at Hai Hai to sit with their humans on the patio, and staff will provide complimentary fresh water bowls. You and your pup are sure to enjoy the warm sun, cool shade, and delicious food and drinks here!
Book ahead online to ensure there’s a space available on the patio.
Cuzzy’s Grill & Bar
Location: 507 N Washington Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55401
Phone: 612-339-6211
Cuzzy’s Grill and Bar is the ultimate post-game hangout! Located only a few blocks away from the Minnesota Twins’ ballpark, it’s the place to go after watching a game of baseball!
This guest gave them a glowing review, saying,
“Cuzzy’s is the only remaining dive [bar] (a good thing, in my mind) in the area, and has strangely decent food.”
They’ve got all the American essentials: pancakes, omelets, french fries, onion rings, chicken wings by the pound, big juicy burgers, hefty sandwiches, beef or chicken nachos, and 12 types of beer!
If you bring your dog, you can enjoy the relaxed outdoor seating. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to bring your pooch indoors – but if you visit solo, you’ll see the bar is super cozy and a little rough around the edges.
Tuck into some cheap beer and fuelling food at Cuzzy’s Grill and Bar while you decompress after the ball game. Take your pup for the ride — they’ll love it!
Stanley’s Northeast Bar Room
Location: 2500 University Avenue NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418
Phone: 612-788-2529
Stanley’s Northeast Bar Room reads half-bar, half-diner. As they’re owned by the same company that owns The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar, you’ll find the same menu, doggie rules, and pawtio® for your pup’s enjoyment.
Your doggo will also be treated to complimentary water, as well as a Peanut Butter Woofer snack. “Yappy Hour” — between 3–6 pm — will also get you $1 off all doggy entrees!
If you’ve taken your dog to a restaurant before, the patio etiquette will be muscle memory for you. In cold weather, the heaters will be on, but if it’s below freezing give them a call and check to see if the patio is open.
As for the human menu, it’s warm and satiating: burgers, nachos, jalapeño poppers, wings, bread, steak, salads, donuts, cheesecake, tacos, cocktails, beer, and more.

One happy guest says,
“Red Rabbit are good people. You go enough times [and] a random ‘extra pizza’ or something like that will just appear in front of you. Good people/staff and treat the regulars well.”
For authentic-yet-easy Italian-American food, Red Rabbit is the place. Go once, and you’ll likely be back again!
Key Takeaways
Regardless if you’re a Minnesota native or just visiting the area, there are plenty of dog-friendly dining opportunities to visit.
The Minneapolis food scene is very inclusive of dogs, with some restaurants offering treats or even three-course doggie menus!
Just be aware that most (if not all) dining spots will limit you to their outdoor patios, due to the health code (rules for service dogs may differ).
Go out in the warmer months, or call ahead in winter to check if there’s patio heating — we wouldn’t want you or your pup to get cold out there!
